2018 - 2019 Season
Welcome to Cobham Under 9s Mini Rugby !
Cobham under 9’s welcomes boys and girls of all abilities and experiences to join us on Sunday mornings as the players progress from tag rugby into contact rugby!
We promote the core principles of rugby; namely Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS) in our sessions and fun is at the centre of everything that we do.
Coaching is provided by parents who themselves attend training courses provided by the RFU and we have a number of experienced coaches running the U9 age group. Child safety is paramount and as such all participating parents are DBS checked.
Our club is run almost exclusively by volunteers and parents are expected to volunteer for occasional duties to help in the running of the club (eg. road crossing, first aid, helping at home festivals, etc.). There are so many ways to get involved at the club. If you have a skill that could help out, please don’t be shy and let us know about it. We’d love to hear from you.
The key elements of the Under 9s Rules of Play are:
- Team numbers: 6 or 7-a-side
- Maximum pitch size: 60 metres x 30 metres
- Introduction of the tackle only but no rucks, mauls, lineouts or scrums
For more information on U9 rules please check out the RFU Website here
We practice from 09:30 to 11:00 on Sunday mornings on pitch 3 at the Memorial Ground (main Cobham RFC fields). First Session is 2nd September 2018. We require that each child remains under the supervision of a nominated adult (no drop and go) and all players must wear a mouth guard
Bar and catering are open at the club house on Sunday mornings.
We play in several festivals and fixtures during the season both home and away. A detailed fixtures list can be found on the Minis home page https://www.cobhamrugby.co.uk/minis/mini-fixtures/
If you have any questions regarding membership or anything else for the 2018-19 season, please contact Nicky Eggar here.
