Aussie 7s team train at Cobham - NOW WITH PHOTOS

Great story of how Cobham RFC connections lead to another international team visit

When Matt Johnson came down to Cobham to play gap year rugby some years ago no one could have anticipated that on his next visit he would be bringing the Aussie 7s rugby team with him.

Matt, the Aussie 7s team analyst and tour manager, had kept in touch with chairman of Cobham rugby Chris Melton and seen that Cobham had hosted Namibia and Italy at the RWC 2015.  When looking around for training facilities ahead of the IRB sevens final at Twickenham this weekend Matt thought that Cobham RFC would make an ideal venue.

In addition to training the Aussie team spent time out signing autographs and speaking with children teachers and parents from Cleves school Weybridge arranged by Community coach Vicky Alexander

At the conclusion of the visit the Aussie team presented Chris Melton with a signed shirt

Matt was very complimentary about our facilities and we hope we will see him and the Aussies on a future visit

Very best wishes for Twickenham  and come back soon

Thanks to Jim Findlay for his great photographs that follow
