On June 13th the AGMs of Cobham RFC and Cobham Sports Association were held at the Cobham Curve.
This was an opportunity for members to receive reports from the respective board members with regards to the financial year end 30th June 2017 and the 2017/8 rugby season.
Steve Heard provided a very positive report on the Club and Association thanking President Lionel Frewin and Howard Gaunt in particular on the work they had undertaken to develop the new members bar which has been so warmly welcomed. Jonathan Fussell provided a presentation on the consolidated financial position which was healthy but reflected the challenge that all rugby clubs faced in terms of balancing the expenditure requirements through membership subscriptions, sponsorship and fundraising.
All of the section reports provided by John Craig (Youth) Dan Cowan ( Mini) Chris Melton ( Senior) and Vicky Alexander ( Girls) reflected on what had been an excellent season for the club and they focused on the essential role that volunteers played in ensuring that outcome.
Tony Balkwill emphasized the requirement to attract new volunteers to provide Cobham RFC and Cobham Sports Association with the future it deserved and a new volunteering strategy would need to be introduced for the 2018/9 season to safeguard that future.
