Match Report Cobham 28-Sevenoaks 21

Cobham fell the Oaks in second half comeback

This game, between two sides adjacent in the league, would always be close but it was Cobham who took the early lead from two penalties courtesy of fly half Ross Jones Davies 6-0.

However Sevenoaks who have won their last two encounters against Cobham were to dominate the first half by running in three converted tries the first by their winger outpacing the defence the second from a line out catch and drive and extending the lead to 21-6 by taking advantage of the scrum possession close to the Cobham line.

Just before half time Cobham second row Adrian Van Der Ploeg kept the home side in the game with a well executed line out drive over the line 21-11

Having given away three tries in the first half Cobham were going to dig deep to turn around the deficit and fly half Ross Jones Davies secured a penalty try and conversion to bring the scores level 21-21

With the clock running down Cobham emulated Barcelona's extraordinary achievement mid week when centre Matt Goddard broke in the midfield and found backrow Ali Porter in support to go over Jones Davies adding the extras

Final score 28-21

Director of rugby, Steve Pope said after the game 'A very frustrating day on and off of the field at the club today. With us again showing our ability to play both very well and poorly in the same 80 minutes. We really are I believe capable of beating any side in this league and today we worked ourselves back into the game and ground out a win.

Scoring at the very death, fair to say a snatch and grab, after giving Sevenoaks 14 very cheap points in the first half.

We have been on the receiving end of a number of close games that might/should/could of have gone our way this season but didn't so after the last two games away at  Sevenoak's it was pleasing to get the win.

We showed some real heart dug in and fought back which was great and always looked to keep playing.

We have some very tough games remaining and it would appear all the sides we need to beat are improving week by week.

We have a number of things we need to fix head of a big trip away to Tott's and we are still very much focused on moving up the table.

Congratulations to Josh Brown and Ollie Fielding who respectively made their 140th and debut appearances' today.
