Saturday 22nd April 2017 saw the last home game of the season preceded by a very good lunch sponsored by Mundays Solicitors who not only put a small rugby ball on each place but also provided excellent table wine.
We were delighted to welcome the usual friendly group from Chiswick RFC including newly appointed President Gary Fielder and Chairman Kelvin Campbell.
Our brilliant MC, Tony Balkwill, welcomed all our Sponsors, which included Neale Andrews, David Irving and Miles Unwin from Mundays Solicitors, Iam Camplin from Savills our Mini Section sponsors and James Davis owner of Clay Hair Salon Oxshott, our Summer Ball sponors. We were also delighted to welcome many other guests including two representatives, Emily Lomas and Emma Carlstedt-Duke, from Cobham Netball Club who are now also being sponsored by Mundays Solicitors.
Tony was delighted to announce that senior club sponsors Mundays had confirmed a further three year sponsorship deal which is greatly appreciated by all the members of the club.
Prior to lunch, President Lionel Frewin presented 1st team stalwart Matt Goddard with the Supporters Player Of The Year award and gave a potted history of his rugby career to date which included being a Cobham Mini and Youth player, Exeter Uni team member, Exeter Chief’s Academy player and Exeter Braves United player as well as being involved in our 7’s squad. He is the top try scorer this season and at that moment needed just two further tries to break the club’s record, held by Mark Bennett since 2006, of 18 tries (he went on to score three tries in the league match against Chiswick that afternoon and now holds the club record).
Following lunch, Lionel Frewin and Chairman Steve Heard were pleased to present two signed and framed club 1st XV shirts to Neale Andrews and David Irving from Mundays, one of which will be displayed in the entrance foyer’s of Mundays Cobham offices, the other will be displayed in the clubhouse at their request
