Niall's father, Rob Saunders was Ireland's scrum half between 1991 and 1994 and participated in the 1991 Rugby World Cup and earlier this month Steve Heard Chairman of Rugby received the following email from Rob which, says it all
I just wanted to let you know that Niall has signed a full time academy contract at Harlequins and will start on July the 1st. Cobham has a rich history of producing players that go into the professional game and now Niall joins that group. I am sure you will want to make the relevant people aware at Cobham of the latest Cobham boy to come off the production line so I will leave it to you to distribute.
We are very proud of him and it goes without saying that his time as a Cobham boy have been instrumental in helping him to achieve this goal and for that we are all very grateful.
Hope to catch up soon
We wish Niall best wishes and good luck from everyone at Cobham RFC
