Christopher Bernard Kearsey - RIP

Updated: Nov 1, 2021

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our Past Captain and President Chris, taken whilst on holiday in Barbados. He was so very ill that, despite being on a ventilator, he died peacefully after nearly three weeks following a cardiac arrest.

A memorial service will be held on Friday 12 November 2021 at St Peter & St Paul's Church, Rustington at 1.30pm and afterwards in the Church Hall.

Chris was a unique character, great clubman and a proud stalwart of the Kingston RFC, Old Surbitonian, Surrey & Surrey Clubs XV, Combined London Old Boys and City Police front rows – deceptively strong, his speciality was the turnover at the maul, ripping the pill out of opposition’s grip and shouting ‘Karsey's Ball.’

A successful and proud career with the City of London Constable, Old Bailey Court Bailiff and latterly as an advisor to the NHS. He lived life to the full, was a member of many charitable organisations and will be remembered as a man that enjoyed life in his own special way.

Chris is survived by wife Diane and his three children, David, Alexandra and Philip.
