Match Officials and Coaching

Cobham RFC is always working hard to develop a growing section of Club Referees.

We are committed to raising and maintaining standards of refereeing to enhance both the enjoyment and safety of rugby at all levels for our young people; in particular to increase the number of trained referees for a club of our size and stature.

No ref = no match

We highly value those who are prepared to give their time to refereeing and offer in-house support and provide Referee Development Evenings run by the RFU.

The demand for referees is immense. Our ever growing Youth section now has 10 squads in 6 age groups (U13 – U18) hosting many matches each season ~ upwards of 60.

The London Society of Rugby Football Union Referees (LSRFUR) provides referees for all Senior matches, our U17 and U18 age groups and now U16A squad League matches, subject to availability. However, we have the responsibility of providing the rest!

If you are interested in becoming a referee, please call me to discuss further. Courses are led by Bob Ockenden from the RFU - Bob is an expert in his field. He has trained many the top referees in the country. He is highly motivating, extremely encouraging and really entertaining!

For more information on our referees development programme, please contact me at any time.

Coach Development

Age group head coaches should advise Simeon Barnes (Club Coaching Coordinator) of any CPD courses they require for the  2019/20 season. Please contact us to discuss your views.
