Cobham repel Vandals fight back to take unbeaten run into the New Year
Cobham's final game of 2025, against league leaders Weybridge Vandals, was eagerly anticipated. Both teams were unbeaten in the first half of the season, with just a try bonus point separating them. Furthermore, their last game in January 2025 on 'the Island' had been a 19-all draw. Cobham had a slightly changed squad with Louis Porter and Jordan Bond unavailable. Wilf Saywell and Tom Incledon were on the bench, having returned from University. Cobham benefited from a full cl

He played for the school’s First XV, Swansea Schoolboys and had a trial for the national schoolboy side. In the early 1960s he headed to Chelsea College of Pharmacy, later part of King’s College London. First half onslaught sees Cobham secure away win at Trinity
In the equivalent fixture last year Cobham secured a notable victory over Trinity, in atrocious weather conditions, against the then league leaders, winning 0-25. Whilst there was no rain this year, the high wind provided the kickers with advantages and disadvantages all afternoon in what proved to be an emphatic display of running rugby from Cobham. Trinity had recently lost to London Cornish so Cobham came into the match as favourites but no one could have anticipated their

Cobham hold out for tenth straight victory this season
Cobham saluted their stalwart prop Ben Joyce as he led the team out to celebrate his 200th first XV cap. You have to go back to 16th April 2011 and Cobham's final match of that season against Tunbridge Wells for his debut. Director of Rugby Billy Davison was playing second row in that match and scored a rare try! Many congratulations to Ben. With several players unavailable Marcus Watson made his first start of the season at fly half and Nick Draper was on the bench, looking

Second half surge delivers a Cobham win at Old Ruts
Cobham have won their last two encounters at Old Ruts; 24-38 in their final league match last season, and then a couple of weeks later 26-52 in the Papa Johns Cup match. However, after 30 minutes of the first half in this contest, it didn't look as if a hat-trick was on the cards. In freezing temperatures, Max Franks made his first start of the year at scrum half, while Ben Joyce secured his 199th cap. Old Ruts adopt an alternative shirt numbering system to the norm and Cobha

Cobham RFC leads the way in accessibility with new inclusive spectator stand
Cobham Rugby Club has proudly unveiled a new fully accessible spectator stand, setting a powerful example for grassroots sport and reaffirming its commitment to inclusion, community, and innovation. This initiative began with a simple but significant moment. Just over a year ago, former Cobham player Seb Carley, now a permanent wheelchair user following a swimming pool accident, attended a match with friends. While the camaraderie was strong, his view of the pitch was obstruc

Cobham cement top spot following another commanding performance
It felt very appropriate that Cobham should be playing this fixture at their Memorial Grounds so that both teams could acknowledge a two-minute silence for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Cobham were very fortunate to have Cobham Allstar Alex Gaze as the bugler to provide the poignant introduction. This match was played in front of an enthusiastic audience of ex-players following their annual lunch and the official opening of the new, fully accessible state-of-the-art

Cobham progress in the cup and maintain their unbeaten start to the season
Cobham welcomed Andover to Fairmile Lane for the second round of the RFU Community Cup competition (24 October). It was the 14th time that Cobham had played Andover but the first since 2016. Andover play in level 7, in the Hampshire equivalent of Cobham's league and currently lie third place, so in line with recent Cobham / Andover matches, a tight game was expected. The home side made six changes to the starting line-up, with Ben Yorke making his first start for many a year

Cobham fight back for victory at Eastbourne to take top spot
Cobham travelled to Eastbourne's The Saffron's ground where they have been playing their rugby since being founded in 1892. The last away fixture at Eastbourne back in March saw Cobham play most of the match with 14 men, as they incurred three yellow cards, and despite playing some great rugby, the home side won a close encounter 24-17. Eastbourne's league results in recent weeks meant Cobham knew they would not be repeating their 15-try fest from the previous week against th

Records tumble as Cobham score 15 tries in emphatic victory over OW
Last week the Director of Rugby at Old Wimbledonians, Matt Bell had provided a great insight into the culture and ethos of his team on the Cob Pod, explaining how they were building the same one club approach to developing their squad as Cobham. As a consequence of playing within different leagues, Cobham had not played Old Wimbledonians since September 2007 and welcomed them back to the Memorial Grounds. Suffice to say 'welcome' was doing some heavy lifting, as Cobham secure
