Saturday’s 2nd XV match delivered a burst of Fijian flair from Farnborough, whose offloading and broken‑field running kept them in the contest throughout. However, Cobham’s structure – particularly a dominant scrum and well‑organised lineout – gave the 2nd XV the control they needed.

First‑half tries from Robson (2), Joyce and Hallam, plus a Pugh conversion, sent Cobham into the break leading 22–14. After the interval, further scores from Joyce and O’Connor, along with another Pugh conversion, proved just enough. Farnborough responded with three second‑half tries, but their missed conversions allowed Cobham to hold firm at the final whistle.
Final score, 34–33 – a tight, hard‑earned win.
A special mention goes to Colt Rhys Roberts, who made his senior debut, and Captain Gabe Clark, who delivered a man-of-the-match performance.
The 2nd XV now await confirmation that they have topped the Surrey Alliance and secured the 2025/26 league title.

That match sounded incredibly tense, especially with such a narrow win putting them on the edge of a league title. I remember following a similarly close game during exams and being completely distracted by every update. Around that time, I was so overwhelmed that I even thought about asking someone to complete my online class for me just to keep up. Moments like this really show how persistence and teamwork can carry a team through pressure.
