The Cobham 2nd XV squad is a vital but often underreported component of the Club’s success. It provides a seamless link from the Youth section to Senior rugby and provides a great opportunity to nurture players for their 1st XV debut.
Playing in the Surrey Championship League 2, it’s been a tough season to date for the 2nd XV, but they followed up on a comprehensive 82-12 win over the Law Society before Christmas with a resounding 59-14 victory over their Guildford counterparts last Saturday (5 February), running in nine tries.
Ex-England cricket international Jade Dernbach made his first start at fly half and was joined in the team by Australian gap year student Ed Shelbourne and Canadian Ciaran Lee, who had made his 1st XV debut earlier in the season.
