Saturday (23 November) saw nearly 80 Cobham ex-players, guests and club members assemble for the annual lunch. Following a very social hour at the club’s bars, members were treated to an excellent lunch prepared by in-house caterers Hot Rocks.
Tony Balkwill MC’d the event, welcoming John Vallely, Chairman, and other representatives from league opposition Westcombe Park, giving thanks to our wonderful sponsors and the club's staff as well as updating the ex-players about all that has taken place at the club over the past year, especially the installation of our new All Weather Pitch.
Following lunch, the ex-players were heard giving loud vocal support to our 1st XV who took on and overcame league leaders Westcombe Park in a thrilling match, despite the home team being reduced to 14 men at half-time and then to 13 due to a yellow card, but still winning 27-24.
By common consent, all present saw some of the best rugby played at the club for several years – a huge congratulations to Ryan and the lads.
