Huge congratulations from all teammates, players and supporters at Cobham RFC to Joe Goddard on reaching 150 caps in last Saturday’s league victory over Hammersmith & Fulham.
This is a huge and significant milestone indeed, spanning 13 years in the senior squad and a lifetime at the club, having come up through the Minis and Youth teams. Joe captained the 1st XV squad during the 2014/15 season and was part of the London 2 South West League winning side the following year.
A man of real stature and dedication who loves his rugby and shows charm, reliability and determination in everything he does. Supporters and players alike cannot fail to be impressed by his presence both on and off the pitch, where his leadership skills and popularity are always in evidence.
Never one to ‘grab the headlines’ each week, he nonetheless has the innate ability to get under the opposition’s skin with his skill, particularly when securing the ball in the lineout, which backs up his mantra that a stolen lineout is better than a try any day!
It is a delight for all to see such a dedicated clubman enjoying his rugby every weekend, proud of his teammates and they of him. We’re raising our glasses to a true sportsman, clubman, teammate and all round good guy and hope to see him gain many more caps for the club in future years.
