KN5 Celebration match proves a fitting tribute to much loved Kieran Notter

Saturday (5 February) saw a packed Memorial Ground host the inaugural KN5 celebration match. Following the tragic loss of one of Cobham’s and the wider local rugby communities much loved personalities Kieran Notter, the Cobham Allstars hosted London Irish Amateur Vets on the Premier Pitch.

With the Notter families Irish roots and strong bonds between the clubs, it was only fitting that The Irish made their way across the river. In front of packed touchlines, both sides put on an enthralling display of flowing rugby.

With both of Kieran's sons and nephew featuring, several players donned both the Green of Irish and pink of Cobham during the match. The final whistle sounded at 36-36 apiece; a perfectly fitting conclusion.

The packed bars, post match celebrations and camaraderie showcased the true value of the rugby community. The hundreds in attendance collectively their wrapped arms round the family and each other, just as Kieran was renowned for.

Following the presentations, Kieran’s brother Chris spoke of Kieran's love for the club, rugby and all those in attendance. The audience all agreed that he would have loved the day, the pink and green livery, and most certainly would have been proud of the 14 barrels sunk!

Both Clubs now aim to make the game an annual event.
