Smith + Wollensky + Sir Gareth Edwards = tremendous 2019 City Lunch

Friday 8 November saw over 130 Cobham RFC members and guests assemble at Smith & Wollensky’s on Covent Garden Riverside for the annual City Lunch, organised by our Chairman Steve Heard in conjunction with SNAP.

Following cocktails in the very smart downstairs bar, guests were treated to an excellent steak lunch (Smith & Wollensky’s specialty) during which Master of Ceremonies, Jonny Gould engaged everyone in a game of Heads & Tails and a hugely successful fundraising auction.

We were delighted to welcome guests from Castricum RFC, Holland, who were in the UK in relation to Cobham’s involvement with Project Turn-over, which seeks to turn around the lives of young offenders by getting them involved with rugby. Cobham is now a base for this project alongside London Scottish RFC.

The highlight of the event was the presence of Sir Gareth Edwards, one of the greatest rugby players of all time, who did a fantastic Q&A session following the lunch.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this event, bid in the auctions and helped raise funds for the further expansion of our disabled facilities.
